No Politician should be Entrusted with Public Office

Updated: Sep 5, 2019

"They looked like brains, but they couldn’t have been. The guy had been a politician."

Shade; or Shadya Díaz del Castillo (born July 28, 2049), the Jovian conquistador; as she calls herself is seriously badass. So badass that she stepped out of my novel, In Search of a Soul: Cyberpunk Blues, and into the pages of her own short stories. Here, she was about to bash a city-state councilman in the nose, but a sniper's bullet beat her to the (pun)ch — don't you hate it when I try to be funny.

This is the beginning of Minerva and Sappho, a Shadya Díaz short story. In 2075, all politicians are untrustworthy and corrupt. It is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents either are products of the author’s imagination, or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, businesses, companies, events, or locales is entirely coincidental.

Shade likes to sing. Thinking, by her own admission, is not her strong suit. If she runs into a problem, she punches him in the nose and lets the chips fall where they may. This usually means Nicole has to pick up the pieces. But, this time, Shade has to fend for herself. She's got to do some detective work— film noir style. Fortunately, Shade runs into a little romance so she can let off the high-pressure steam caused by all the thinking she's been forced to do.

But, this is a short story. Expect a few twists and turns along the way— mixed in with some heavy gravity rock and roll.
